I just spoke with the doctor who is assigned to Jessie for the weekend. He is the one who moved her up to the ICU. He said that she did great over the night, praise the Lord! He said that she was a bit dry, so they hooked her up to an iv to "fill her up" with more fluids. They also have her on oxygen, to make sure that she is getting enough of it. He said that she was having some labored breathing before she was put on the oxygen. He said that they could have kept her in the TCU and given her the iv and the O2 there, but with her heart history and her conditions, they felt she should be placed in the ICU. He wants to keep her in the ICU over the weekend, where it's easier to monitor her more closely. The neurosurgeon just called too, and said that he is please with the pituitary side of things, but that the cardiac part is the biggest deal for her right now. She has probably had this Cushing's Syndrome for about a year now, so now that the cause of it is gone, her adrenal glands need to kick back into gear to balance everything again. This imbalance can feel like a bit of a shock to her entire system, which then puts extra stress on her heart. They are watching her closely in every way! Jess told the doctor to tell me and mom that she is doing fine. Mom is on her way over to the the hopital right now. I just spoke with her, she says that she has peace and that she isn't worried. Last night was a bit more nerve-wrecking, but after speaking with the doctor, we all fee a lot better. She is in the best of hands! We are so blessed that she is at Mayo. Caroline will be joining her for the day today. We all (Liz, Jon, Jake, Luke, Dick & Janice-Jon's parents) head down tomorrow for Easter at the hospital.
Didn't mean to freak you out last night, but felt that I should let you know of her prayer need. I feel so much better having spoken with the doctor, he reassured me that she is doing good.
Thanks again for your faithfulness in prayer!!!
Love to you all!
Liz
