Christmas Update, 2008

Dear friends and family,

I hope that you are all doing well. December is my favorite month of the year, because it’s the month that my best friend, Christ Jesus, was born. Originally, I was supposed to have my surgery this month. Well, I didn't want to spoil my favorite month by having heart surgery, so the surgery has been set for January 9, instead. Mom, Liz and I will be heading down to Mayo on January 7th, in preparation for my surgery. We will be down there for at least a week. The purpose of this heart surgery is to replace my mitral valve in my heart with a pig's mitral valve (how funny is that?). They will also be placing a stint in my pulmonary artery, to allow for better blood flow. I don't know about you, but all of these medical terms sound like words that would be used when having your car worked on.... When we met with the Cardiologist at Mayo in March, he said that this surgery is a very standard surgery for "Tet patients" (people who were born with Tetrology of Fallot). I would greatly appreciate your prayers, as I get ready for this next surgery. Sometimes fear creeps into my mind, and I get scared. Please pray for God's hand of peace on my heart. Your prayers and well-wishes mean so much to me.

Mom and I spent Thanksgiving in California, with Rob and Amy. We had such a great time! We got to meet my nephew, Paul, for the very first time. Rob and Amy adopted Paul from Russia in August. He is absolutely precious, and I love him so much. His big sister, Gracie, is a very proud sister. She is a good little helper to both Paul and Mommy. She and I are buddies. I had so much fun playing with Paul and Gracie, and I can't wait to see them when they come here to MN to visit on December 27th.

As the snow covers the ground, here in Minnesota, I am reminded of what Jesus did for us, 2000 years ago. Through God’s grace, we have the promise that God can wash us whiter than snow, no matter what our sins may be. As we celebrate the birth of my best friend, Jesus, I pray that God will fill your hearts with hope and love. Have a wonderful Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!! God bless you and your family in 2009!

Big Hugs to all!

Jessica
